The Kiss.

Posted in kindred spirits, love on April 28, 2011 by twotwoeight

He looked into my eyes so intently and filled with so much sincerity, and as he inched closer and closer, I asked if he was going to kiss me.  Without a word, he leaned closer and gently planted a light kiss on my nose and shyly withdrew.  Sigh…my heart just melted.  Instantly.

PS/ Did I mention he’s the sweetest little almost-2-year-old I have ever met? 😉 Why, what were you thinking? 😉

If you secretly want to refer Tweety to a speech therapist, check this out!

Hehehe…cute, isn’t it?

PS/ Chances are, if you can name every one of them, you were born before the 1980’s 😉

You know obesity is a problem…

Posted in doctoring tales on April 10, 2011 by twotwoeight

when you are brought to see a new case during rounds and upon seeing only a heavyset male sitting by the bedside, ask where’s the patient, only to be told he’s the patient.  A lower-secondary school student.  140 kg.

Obesity is one of the most challenging issues to deal with, ask any health practitioner.

Sitting in clinic looking at the pattern of their weight gain,  we wish we could do more.  But, this is not one of those “Take 2 aspirins and call me in the morning” conditions.  Family support and self-motivation plays a big part in the management of obese children, unfortunately, this is severely lacking.

Can’t very well say that…so we just smile and encourage and do what we can, and repeat the same a few months later.  Sigh.

it all started with one yellow duck

…and grew to become this!

Big and small, good and evil, black and white…

And now there’re not only ducks…

but a whole lot of other animals!

They used to sit on my tv-top, but they’ve outgrown the space, and since I moved, the poor things have been in storage while waiting for me to find them a suitable place to nest.

After months of waiting, they finally get to come out.  And the new ones get to join in the fun as well!

Additions to my collection from my trip to Europe last year.  Which reminds me, must remember to bring Perry and his nemesis back soon…

And of course, new additions to my Smurf family as well!  They are difficult to find…so when I do, it really makes my day!

Let it grow, let it grow, let it grow 🙂
