A roaring year ahead

This year the Tiger ushered in a new Lunar Year and with it, promises of good things in leaps and folds.  It’s going to be a good year.  🙂

Chinese New Year was a little different for us this year.  We had our home cooked reunion dinner one day earlier, we ate out with relatives for the actual reunion dinner, we didn’t do our big family gathering with lion dance and all, we took our parents for a mini makan-marathon to Ipoh on 3rd day and we picked and picked bird feathers until we went blind!!!

A refreshing change?  Nevertheless, it’s always the togetherness and the camaraderie that remain the center of the celebrations and no matter what changes lie ahead, we will always have each other…because family will love, unconditionally.

What does this sign mean?

A) No entry for ghosts

B) No Pacman villains allowed

C) No sotongs allowed

D) No tudungs with “X” marks on the back

Your guess is as good as mine!

PS/ This is a real road sign located somewhere on the way to KL from PJ, I kid you not! 😉

Bad Old Man!

Posted in kidz talk, penny for my thoughts on February 1, 2010 by twotwoeight

Was watching the 52nd Grammy’s and thinking what energetic performances artists can put up.  They can sing, they can dance and they do it with such gusto that it is infectious!  I have always wished I was not born with two left feet and I envy people who can just get up and dance their hearts out.  Hhmm…

Actually watching the Grammy’s reminded me of my colleague’s story of her 4 year old girl.  She was in the car with her girl listening to the radio when her girl suddenly said “This is Bad Old Man!”.  My colleague was stunned for awhile before she realized her girl was talking about the song on air.  So she listened harder and thought, yeah…it does sound like “Bad old man”.  She asked her girl how does she know…and her girl said it’s on Daddy’s phone.  So my colleague texted her husband and asked whether he had a song called “Bad old man” on his phone and he was literally rolling-on-the-floor-laughing!

Yup, you guessed’s Bad Romance, by Lady Gaga…not Bad Old Man!  Turns out her 4 year old is more “happening” than her, hehe.  Kids nowadays are so precocious!

Here’s to Bad Romance!  Whose lyrics are downright nonsensical, but you’ve got to admit, it’s super catchy! 😉
