Gratitude.

Sometimes…just sometimes, we need something to keep us going.  The pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.  The light at the end of the tunnel.  Sometimes it may not be that obvious.  Sometimes, all it takes is just a kind word.  An acknowledgement of appreciation.

Cutie-pie

See this cutie-pie.  She was born premature at 700grams and she came out on my call.  I remember informing her father how tiny and ill she was and that we would do everything we can to save her.  Her parents are among one of the nicest that I have encountered.  Recently, during a follow-up at our clinic, I had the pleasure of seeing them and was beaming with pride to see that she has grown to be such a pretty little darling.  My heart literally melted when he said to his little girl “You must say thank you to this doctor, she saved your life when you were born”.

At a time when I was abit lost, going around in circles, pondering the meaning of my existence, and wondering whether what I’m doing is right or not, his words literally “brought me back to life”.  Looking at her reminded me that my path is right, and that I made a difference in someone’s life.  Little did she know, she made a difference in mine too.

  1. Dear TwoTwoEight –

Simply, that was beautiful. I’ll be including a link to this post in my next Gratitude Watch, which will probably be up in a couple of hours.

    All the best,
